ACT Test Prep Tips and Information

  • Take the semester ACT Prep class at HHS as a sophomore or a junior.
  • Use Method Learning to study.  This is a full length online test preparation program HHS has purchased for our students.  Through this program students can benefit from a 20 week course of study, specific lessons covering every topic tested on the ACT, timed and automatically scored practice ACTs, and downloadable study guides.  Students should log in through their Clever Sign In.
  • Make yourself familiar with how the test is laid out by taking practice tests.  We have a free paper copy of the ACT available for our students in the College and Career Room. Students should take note of the subject order of the test, the number of questions on each section of the test, and the time allowed for each section of the test.
  • After scoring a practice test or if you order a Test Information Release (TIR) when you register for one of the three testing dates (December, April or June) that allows you to get your test document and answers back along with the score report, you should study the question you got incorrect.  If you do not know how to get the correct answer, you should ask your teacher for help.
  • READ!!! READ!!! READ!!!

Students register to take the ACT through www.myact.org. Students that qualify for the federal free and reduced lunch program should see Mrs. Bond to obtain a fee waiver for the ACT. Remember the colleges will always use your highest ACT score and they will continue to accept new and improved scores even after you have applied up until their scholarship deadline.
