The Counseling Department at Hoover High School offers students and parents a diverse group of counseling professionals to help navigate high school and future planning. We are fortunate to have grade level counselors who move with their class each year. Additionally, we have a Testing Coordinator, Intervention Counselor, College and Career Specialist and New Beginnings Counselor. We work together to provide a comprehensive counseling program for all students. We seek to prepare every student socially, academically and emotionally for present and future challenges. The counseling program provides a proactive system designed to anticipate and facilitate the academic, career and personal/social/emotional development of students.
Counselors meet with students individually or in small groups to address social, emotional or academic needs. We provide classroom lessons to help students acquire interpersonal/social skills, career awareness/exploration and study/organizational skills. In addition, counselors are available to conference with parents, both individually and with teachers.
It is our goal that Hoover High students not only graduate, but also that they are prepared for success for what they hope to achieve after graduation. There are multiple ways for students to prove that they are college and career ready in addition to earning a diploma. We encourage all students to actively seek at least one of the below College and Career Ready Indicators while in high school.
